Air Intake

I see that eBay has cheap/generic intake systems...I'm wondering how these stack up to expensive name brand ones. I notice they utilize the stock air tube, are the aftermarket tubes that much better? And what about the filtration quality of the "k&n style" cone filters? ALSO, do the cheapies mess up the truck's computer system?

I have a K&N FIPK on Jeep Grand Cherokee V8. Made a nice difference. Picked up some thorttle response and top end hp.

The tube cracked and K&N sent me a new one, no questions asked. Very good customer service.

I am going to order a FIPK for my 5.3 next week. Since I work at a parts store, I can get one for $190. So, for me, its a no brainer.

Do you know what part # to order? I want to get the FIPK also, but they don't have a part # for the 2004's yet. Will the 2003 kit (part # 57-3021-1) work on the 2004's too?

I have a VOLANT, because I love the sound, and a 18hp increase is nice. it was a 300$ intake got it for free for xmas so whos complaining.

But theres a new intake that will give you 35hp gain. I might switch over to it. Anyone interested in a 6 month old VOLANT?

03-04s have a different part #, which is 57-3023-1

That part number excludes 5.3L 1500's that arent HD. I talked with a guy from K&N earlier, they officially don't have a part no. for the 04's yet in the gen2, only the 77 series. They don't have full approval yet. He said once they do have approval more then likely the part no. will be 57-3021-1 which is the same as the 03 non HD 5.3L 1500's.

Checked with a local AutoZone asked them what it would cost me to get them to order a K7N Gen2 FIPK part number 57-3021-1 for me...It was 207+tax(190 for parts, 17 for shipping).
