Lets talk tires.....

Well, it is time for me to start researching tires. I have 305/70-16 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S right now, and they have been a good tire, I have around 48,000 miles on them and could go a few more. But have a separated belt in a tire or two.

I am thinking of putting the Goodyear's back on, but have also been looking at the Nitto Terra Grappler, Dunlop Rover RV. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two tires? Also liked the Revo's but didn't see that they made that tire in a 305?

Thanks in advance guys!

I have the Nittos in a 285. Pretty much the only thing I don't like about them is the fact that there is no white letters, solid or raised. Black on both sides.

They do great in the sand, and about as good as any AT type tire will do in the mud.

Here is what the tread looks like:

The majority of my driving is done on paved roads, but i like to have fun off the road too....

Does anyone have any other tire suggestions other than what have been said here?

My neighbor just bought the Micky Thompson AT tire....Got all 4 285s out the door for something like $530 :jester: The lugs are spaced fairly far apart on them...They look like they would do well offroad. He sure likes them.

If you want a pic, just ask, and I'll walk over there and snap one.

If you are looking for an AT tire, the BFG AT is a hard tire to beat. Excellent ride quality, excellent traction in most situations and excellent wear.

I have had two sets and LOVE them. :jester:

i'll second the bfg's! i have almost 60k on mine and they are still looking pretty good.

when i replace them this fall, I will either get the bfgs or the revos. lots of people here rave about the revos. whichever one is the better deal at the time...

I think you'll see a lot of votes for the BFG's or the Revos - I don't honestly think you can go wrong with either one. I have the BFG's in 285 on mine, but I got a better deal on them than the Bridgestones - either way you can't go wrong - I've always loved BFG tires on any any vehicle and have owned several sets on several different vehicles and I've loved every set - haven't had reason not to buy BFG's so I stuck with what worked for me! The Revos are a heck of a tire and those would for sure be my second choice! :jester:

Like I have said on another post, I worked for firestone and we installed a ton of revo's, and I have used them on our pre-runner for desert racing. Beautiful tire! BFG's are great too.. however the a/t usually has a crummy wear pattern.. but chevy's are funny like that in that they dont really wear tires bad. I have a set of 315/75/16 pro comp X-terrains on my truck and I love them. They are really pricy, and I have not had them long enough to see how they wear really. My vote is with the Revo's due to almost silent ride after 50 k on a desert truck which beats the hell out of tires... and the grip on and off road, wet and dry and snowy is incredible! Make that two votes for the revo's from me! Just my .02 cents.
