Fuel Filter & PCV Valve Change

Recommended Posts

Looking to perform both of these in the next week or so on my 99 Silverado w/5.3.   Bought the replacement FF at Autozone with no prob, but no one seems to stock the PCV valve...the part number wall endsright at where the one I need is? Anyone else find it?

Also, am a rookie with this..do I rea lly need a fuel pressure guage to relieve pressure?  By looking under the hood, I'm guessing that the FF must be underneath....along a frame rail?

Any help greatly appreciated!

If the auto parts store did not have a PCV valve, find a different store.  That's ridiculous.  I change my fuel filter WITHOUT the gauge.  Yeah, it's a little messy but it can be done.  I do it on my Grand Prix also.  Don't wear a watch or it will smell like fuel and don't smoke. Change the fuel filter every 15k miles.  My truck ran like cr@p when it got old.  The PCV valve is probably still o.k.  If you shake it and it rattles, it's probably still o.k.
