Put on new shocks

I was goofing off on the other side of town the other day, and happened upon a 4WheelParts store...I couldn't resist, I stopped in just to...Well...Continue goofing off.

I got to talking to the guy about wanting some longer shocks in order to restore the downtravel lost in the front suspension when I cranked the bars.

He then informed me of a deal they were running on Pro Comp shocks. I went ahead and had them drop ship them right to my door for a total of around $31 per shock.

So what if it's the cheapies....So are the stockers, and these are longer (Made for 0-3 inches of lift).

I put them on this afternoon and let me tell you, that extra inch of downtravel makes a WORLD of difference.

Truck rides just like it did before cranking the bars. Expansion joints and general bumps are soooo much easier to handle now.

I would bet that only the fronts would need to be done, but I did all four.

If you don't want to move/adapt your shock mounts to regain lost downtravel, consider this an easy (and somewhat cheap) alternative.

I just had to share, I'm a happy camper.

How far did you crank the Torsion Bars? That was the first thing I noticed on mine when the torsion bars where turned. The bumps were ok but, but anything that required downward movement first seemed a lot harsher. For ~$65 I might have to give that a try in the front. Thanks very much.

What is the number on the Pro Comp shocks? I cranked my bars and its time to put new shocks on any way. My wife has been complaining for a while now that my truck is to rough for her. I hope this solves the problem. I looked and could not find any shocks for a 2-3 inch lift.

From my searching I would guess they were the 3000 series. I have found them for about $32 a piece including a boot and shipping.

I'm not sure about the part numbers right now, I'll post them tomorrow. But they helped my ride tremendously, and should placate your wife.

tryn2lrn, they are cranked enough to give me about 1.5" of lift on the front.

Anyone try using a high performance gas shock?? My truck is drivin on street 100% of the time, and I'd like something that will maintain a nice ride, but won't compromise what little bit of ability to handle I have. My father has a friend that has a set of Blisten Gas shocks from a 93' ZR-1 and recomended that I call him up and see if he'll part with him. Anyone??
