Longer shocks; Do they work?

Recommended Posts

I read a post on here a few days ago, but cannot find it in the forums now. Does installing longer shocks really make a difference in ride if the T-Bars are cranked? My are cranked about 1.5" and the ride is horrible. If the longer shocks truly work I'm going this route. Has anyone else tried this or are there any suspension experts out their that can give me some advise.

Thanks

As long as present shocks are not topping out, longer shock will do nothing. Also, with longer shocks you have to make sure that you do not bottom them out either. They are primarily for lifted truck with great suspension travel and correct down limit to prevent shock bottoming. Riase font end a good bit by cranking bars can sometimes stiffen thing up by change cam and fulcrum angles a bit too.

I think the one your looking for is about 9 or 10 post down. " put on new shocks." By wingnut. I had the same question too. :chevy:

Yup, that was mine.

I cranked my bars about 1.5", and my shocks were topping out.

The Procomp shocks are designed for "0 to 3 inches of lift", so I doubt that they will be bottoming out...And I have had the truck bouncing around like something out of a "Like a Rock" commercial. It did fine....Has much better road manners as well. I can't imagine what the ride would be like if I actually bought some higher-end shocks.
