System Upgrades

Been having trouble with getting sound from my system and found out what the problem was. Thought it was the head unit and it turned out to be the 4 channel amp mounted behind the rear seat of my extended cab. The board was actually corroded and had water stains on it! Unfortunately not a warranty item. No water damage inside the truck at all though so the only thing I can think of is condensation. It turns out to be a good excuse to make some upgrades though. There's got to be some good in this. I've order 2 alpine T420 amps to replace the 4 channel amp (which now makes a great doorstop). I've always wanted an underseat sub box so I ordered that and 2 - 10" alpine type R subs. Anyone have these... opinion? It was either these or the kicker comp VR 10s. I went with the alpines because the clarity seemed a little better.

It's all coming in this week and will try to take some pics and post. I'm hoping it all sounds good with the stuff I've already got installed and be rockin' again soon.

I also have a 2002 extended cab. I went to the sound guys yesterday and told them that I have the Type R subs. Most downfire boxes that go under the bench has a mounting depth of 6 1/2". The two Type R subs that I have and want to install have a mounting depth of 7". The guys down there said they could cut the box out a little and shim it up, then re-seal it. Not really sure about the idea for I have never heard of this procedure, but if they say it's so, I guess it's so huh? Unless they were just trying to make a sale? Anyway, it sounded better then have a "custom" made box for twice the price...
