Avalanche oil usage problems

How many of you guys are seeing this problem of using oil in their Avs???

My wifes boss just burned a quart in 2K miles.... over a 4 day trip!!!!

What I don't get is the problem seems more prone to the Avalanches than the Silverados!!!

I want to get back to him on this.... so please let me know.

Yeh, I don't get it. Why AV's more than others?

I will say the new design PCV has drastically improved mine.

I have the dealer doing a consumption test.

With the old valve, I used a quart from 8000 to 9800 odo miles. ( 1800 miles total)

They added the quart, and the new valve,and now at 12000 miles it is just down to the top circle on the dipstick. (2200 miles) And, no big cloud of smoke at start ups!

Have them tell the dealer about the service bulletin.

I'll tell him about the PCV... Is there a TSB about this??? And do you know the number of the TSB?

I experienced no oil usage when I had mine changed after the first 2500 miles. The mechanic seemed confused about the dipstick tho. He said it looks almost a quart low, after putting in 6 quarts. He said he's seen this with other Chevy trucks.

when I was recently at the dealer there was an av in there with its intake and heads pulled off :stupid: the mech said that the new pcv had made it worse it has a smaller hole in the botom

they are thinking that the lifters have to large of a exit hole in them sending more oil to the rockers than can drain back down

take this with a big grain of salt as this is the same idiot service department that I have been telling yalll about

something tells me that motor will never be the same after theose idiots get done with it
