Suburban rear audio controls

A few weeks ago we were talking about aftermarket stereo equipment and I was trying to figure out how to keep the rear audio controls when I install the Pioneer head unit/DVD.

I found that Pioneer has an Audio/Video Switcher that will allow up to 3 different sources to be run at the same time -

Info from their site is -

If audio-video chaos reigns in your vehicle- for example, passengers wanting to view different sources or have different volume levels- help is on the way. This AV switcher system gives you individual control of three AV outputs, so three different sources can be displayed separately. It also gives two passengers their own volume control for headphones.

Presenting the Pioneer CD-VS33, the ultimate anestethic for those boisterous backseat drivers. It makes adding video for your rear passengers a snap. An easy-to-operate control pad provides individual control of the three A/V outputs, allowing each user to select their source independently. Two headphone jacks with their own volume controls are also included, so your travelling companions can entertain themselves without disturbing you. In total, there are three A/V inputs: Two are located on the hide-away main unit (for connecting products you will always have in the vehicle) and one set is on the control pad for quick connection of portable items like video games or cameras.

Features:

AV Inputs & Outputs

Video Source Input (RCA-type, NTSC Video & L+R Audio) on the Front Panel

2 Independent Headphone Outputs with Volume Control on the Control Panel

2 Video Source Inputs (RCA-type, NTSC Video & L+R Audio) in the Hideaway Box

3 Video Source Outputs (RCA-type, NTSC Video & L+R Audio) in the Hideaway Box

Audio/Video Independent Selector for 3 Video Source Outputs

Slim-Profile Control Panel

This is exactly what I am looking for! :)

I also ordered the OnStar interface so I'll be able to use that with the new system -

Hope this helps if you decide to go the same route.

Tom,

Do you know what the dimensions of the Pioneer control panel is? Will it fit in the stock location of the rear audio controls? I have a C3 with the rear audio controls in the back of the center console. I already upgraded to an Alpine IVA-C800 in dash monitor and DVD player. I plan on putting rear monitors in the headrest and some type of audio controls. The Pioneer would be great. Let me know how your install goes.

I'll let you know if I get the dimensions. I'd like to be able to put it where the rear controls are now.
