Whistling Rear side windows

I have a 99 3/4 ton Silverado. The side window latches were replaced under warranty, however the 3rd door window is still noisy. Does anyone have a cure for this. GM told me there is no new latch available.

Also, I have the same problem w/ my 2000 Silverado.   I can fix it by giving the third door a good slam.  That's usually what the problem is.  The latch on there works horribly, but the chevy dealer keeps telling me that nothings wrong.

When I had my 2000 excab I had the windows and latches replaced.  They were done at the dealership, but the dealer had a glass-man come in and do the work (I don't know if they replaced the seals too or not).  It cured 90% of the problem.  I could still hear a little noise if I laid my head against the rest and didn't have the radio on, otherwise it was OK.

I had my rear windows replaced twice. The first replacements were GM windows. They leaked worse than the original ones. The second set, the dealer had to get them from a local glass place, because GM was on back order. I haven't had any problems since they put the second set in. I have no wind noise now.

The noise from the third door not shutting normally happens in the winter time. The grease on the latch doesn't lubricate very well when cold.

Back to the windows. My dealer says he replaces them left and right. Just keep bringing it back and let warranty cover it. The price tag on those windows is almost ? (ouch!!), I know I wouldn't want to pay that for a little wind noise. Warranty is there to cover that stuff, so make sure they do it.

Had the ones on my 99' looked at 4 times.  They changed the latches twice, I called Chevrolet after the 3rd time the truck was in for it, the delaership called me back and they finally installed a new style of gasket between the body and the glass, and did some kind of mods to the body itself. There was a TSB issued for this. Like the above post, it fixed about 90% of the wind noise, not perfect but a $hitload better.  I'd push the dealer and call Chevy up if you have to.

Here's a question for all of you who have had this problem:  Was the noise constant or intermittent?  I posted a question about an intermittent whistle/whine, and wanted to narrow my diagnosis down.

The noise I had was a constant rustling of wind at freeway speeds.  It sounds like the wind at your house when it blows really hard...  if you know what I mean (just not as loud)

Mine was basically the same as Shaners, it was much worse on the highway with a cross wind, than it was at lower speeds or on a freeway with a lower wind.
