Lower 1500HD 2 inches.

Guess that would help.

It's an 02 K1500HD.

I want to lower the entire truck 2 inches so my camper will ride level. It's off bubble 2 inchecs high in the front. I have adjusted the hitch as low as I can and still leave room between the bed and the trailer. It's a 5th wheel.

Considering taller tires on the trailer as another option, or something like lifting the trailer??

Just looking at options and seeing if anybody has done this. I have heard a couple of ideas.

You can always try shorter tires on the truck, but then you would have to have the PCM reprogramed.A suspension adjustment may affect the load handling of the truck..It may be easier to raise the trailer as you said, but be sure to check the over-all height does not exceed 13'6"...It may be worth your time to check with your RV dealer for options..I'm sure they may have dealt with issues like this...just a thought

Just an idea, why not take out a leaf from the rear and add adjustable air-bag system to compensate for the load. Probably the cheapest thing, why not get two 2x6 pressure treated boards and just drive the camper on those when setting up camp. That's what I'd do! Chris

Just reread your post, is your problem with it being not level when towing it? I didn't think it was that big of a deal being off by a little. Most I see when camping aren't level while towing. Especially those with the taller Ford and Dodge. If you have a problem while towing I'd take a leaf out and get a good adjustable air-bag system as I mentioned above. My next truck will be getting airbags put on ASAP. I rode in a '04 Ford PS with airbags, the ride with a 32' 5th wheel was unbelievable.

Thats a good idea, then he can lower the front torsion bars a little in the front, and put thm back again when its not being used to tow the 5th wheel. And it wont affect the load handling abilities. :jester:

on a 1500HD the torsion bars are cranked completely out.

I was talking with another guy and he mentioned that there are 2 inch lowering shackles for the rear end, and possibly the 1500 torsion bars will fit on a 1500HD?? The 1500HD has the same front end part numbers as his 2500HD we did not have a 1500 to compare to.

Heck I think I am going to just raise the dang trailer next year. Probably what I will do is put taller tires on the rig and lift the frame up off the axles an inch or so. Too much BS to mess with the truck and from the looks the trailer is easier to work on.

Hey Chris,

I think I seen your truck around. It is a nice looking truck. I spend a bunch of time in Frankfort, hopefully I will be spending even more time there.

Glad to see another KY guy around here. Considering my wife's family and my family live all over Frankfort, I'm driving around alot. Hope you get your setup working. Do you go camping at the Forks of Elkorn Camp ground? I live about a minute from there. Chris

I go to Forks a couple times a year. It's OK there for commercial camping. People keep a clean campgrounds some of the sites are crampped but the pool and everything is nice for a wekend get a way.

This year has been a crummy camping year. Got laid off last year and been trying like heck to get a state job. I supported government contracts for many years and never seen an unhappy goverment worker. I would like to live in that area. I ilke Franklin, Anderson, Mercer and Boyle counties. I can commute but I would like to get out of Grant county. The local government here is a joke. Bunch of nuts runs this county.

My non-compete just expired and the freeze has been lifted so hopefully I can get hooked up. I almost think them jobs are willed to people. I have an interview tomorrow so I hope I do well.
