What size tires

I have a stock 99 silverado z71 i need new tires and i was wondering what the largest size tire i can go is. I was looking to get bfg's AT or MT tires. I want to go with a 285 or a 305 but i don't know if they will fit.

I have BFG All-Terrain 285 75R 16's on the factory wheel, no clearance issues whatsoever. Actually, my speedo is pretty much right on too. I don't think that 305's will fit without a lift, but I'm not sure. Definitely too big for the factory wheel though. If I ever learn how to post pics I'll let ya's see what they look like.

I've seen 305's on stock rims with no lift, but they wore extremely fast in the middle of the tire. They had to trim the front air dam and the inner fender. IMO, I think 285's are perfect on stock rims. Chris
