what size pipes?

what size is the oem muffler on the 6.0? mainly wandering how long it is? Am i reading right that i have 2 3" in and a 3" out? guess i need to crawl up under my truck and look it over in genral. all this time i thought it had single exhaust all the way. was thinking either a 3" in with duel 2.5 oo one with 3" in 3" out, glad i didn't look like an idoit at the muffler shop.

 

Now I guess I'm looking for a duel 3" in single 3" out, hopeing i can use the stock exhuast pipes that way.

went and looked again on flow master, biggest pipes in to there mufflers are 2.5, well duel in anyway. they had some sort of cone things that reduced from 3" to 2.5", think they'd be worth it?

I have a 2004 6.0 as well. There are two pipes and cats going into one muffler with 2 3inch inputs, and 2 3inch outputs (some say only one output if fuctional) that go to a Y pipe then into a single tail pipe.

 

Here is what I did. I cut out the stock muffer and tailpipe secion. Put in two Magnaflow 18 inch mufflers side by side, then each muffler has a tail pipe that dumps before the rear axle. The system sounds great, no drone, and my milage has gone up. Also run the Diablo Predator tune and AEM cold air intake w/6 inch Superlift, 35 inch tires. Sounds great, looks great, runs great.
