good firewall

OK I have an addiction with UT2004 and the norton software won't allow me to host games. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem besides me. I already opened up the ports in my router and still nada. I know its the firewall cause it works when I uninstall it. I don't want to leave my pc open to attacks not to mention I get raped with pop ups without the firewall. anybody know of a firewall that works with UT2004.

Well, if your talking software firewall, I use Black Ice. You can configure it quite easily, and it stops most of what's out there.

I have Macafee as well, but I've never tried it. (Work gives it to us for free is the only reason I have it.)

I use Outpost Pro as it is highly configurable

If it still wont work after you open the ports you may need to set up port forwarding. You dont happen to be using WINXP and have the integrated firewall running do you?

Do you have XP? Did you install SP2? Because apparantly, SP2 is having issues with 3rd party firewalls and antivirus software.

I have XP home edition and even with the intergrated settings set to allow all cookies ect. ect. it still didn't work. I know other people who play this game with very simalar settings to mine and they had no trouble hosting games. I think I'm gonna give macafee a try and see if that works. my roomate uses it but he runs windows 2000 profesional and has no problems. I also had a friend who does networking for compaq check it out 2 hours later and still nada. He was so confused and a little:mad: too right now the only way I could get it to work is by setting my ip to static and uninstalling my firewall then opening up my ports in the router. Now I have another problem every 10 or 20 minutes I lose my connection while 'im on a killing spree of course. I think I'm gonna end up having to reformat my hd unfortunately when I bought this pc it didn't come with ANY software so I have to go out and buy it I think it will be cheaper if I add another hd and transfer all my personal files and then nuke it its either that or build a new system. Also has anyone had trouble seeing your pc in the workgroup My roomate can see his system as well as his other 2 but not mine and I cant see his either. It's very strange We had a pro set up the network too so its not like I fudged it up or anything. I've just about given up
