Got the kit on in about 40 mins. Pretty easy install. The hardest thing was putting on a long piece of protective moulding that goes on the top perimeter of the metal sheild. It basically serves as protection from scraping your arm or hand on the metal that separates the cone from the tubing.

This ain't cheap at $280 for the kit.

First thing I noticed when driving with this is how LOUD it is if you put your foot into it. Definately getting major air volume increase. Can't say that HP is noticably improved, but gas mileage is up.

I guess my next step is to open up the exhaust. I will be replacing my stock muffler with a Magnaflow and new tip.

I am also excited about Jason's Audio Control kit for the Steering wheel. Does anyone have the steering wheel Audio controls? If so, how do you like them?

Thanks

(Happy Thanksgiving everyone)

Hey guys,

Since I have the 1500 Series....

I purchased K&N part #57-3033  (5.3L V8 F/I Fuel Injection Performance Kit).

I bought through a friend who buys wholesale, but if you go to the K&N site they have a "where to buy" link

(hang on, let me figure out how to post a link...:notice: )

where to buy K&N products

You can get a look at some online stores.

Didn't have any problems with tolerances around the fan shroud. My buddy who I bought this through did mention that this kit looked "different" from previous chevy K&N FIPK's that he had installed.

I don't have any hard numbers on MPG yet although I just filled up yesterday so I can report back after I check a couple intervals. I must also note regarding MPG's that I just did my 1st oil change so this may "also" be affecting perceived increases in mileage?

Anyone who knows a good site with lots of good hitch cover selections please post.

Sure am excited about this 4 day weekend :(

Later,

57-3030 - same as Silverado 8.1L

works like a charm, but a tad tight on the fan shroud.

After seeing your avatar, I had almost thought that I had posted on here before.

Congrats on the install.  The FIPK was one of the best things I did thus far.  You'll notice the power increase more after you get a more free flowing exhaust.

Thanks - I have the Gibson cat back - single side exit on and it is awesome - certainly compliments the FIPK - have just found headers from Gibson - and "the Other Guys" - trying to decide which.
