Tires screeching when turning

i was just wondering if anyone else's truck or suv tire makes screeching noise when turning into a parking spot. almost everytime i make a sharp turn at a very slow speed, my tires start screeching and it makes it sound like i'm doing 100 mph and turning into the parking spot. does anyone else have this problem (or headache) or is this something i need to have checked out?

make sure your tires are fully inflated. my old tires did the same thing on certain types of pavement and low tire pressure. good luck.

I keep my BFG 285/75R16's set at 45 lbs, and thanks to the factory G80 locker I tend to hear cool things when turning while accelerating from a stop or a slow roll. Hear it best with all windows open (especially the sliding rear)!

In my 30+ yrs of driving I have found this to be most likely due to the type of tire rubber compound (some squeal a lot more than others) and/or low-ish pressure

Mine's doing this as well, and just for the record, since nobody's made the distinction, I've got a 2WD. It only happens at full lock and while making right turns, so if I just let off just a hair, it goes away.

 

I can't be certain, but I think this started with my new tires only after I was messing around with the left side upper control arm (thought I had a bad bushing, turns out it was a loose cam bolt!). I haven't had it aligned yet, but I know there's no way could have put it back to spec. I'll know soon, as I'm taking for the alignment in about a week. Before the new tires, I think it did it no matter what, and the alignment was still dead-on after 4+ years when the shop put it up on the rack (it was that high-tech system that uses lasers to line everything up too).

Too much toe in? Have you checked the alignment lately?

mine did this also on my new 1998 chevy truck.it is the TIRES.i cant remember buut i think mine were goodyears or goodrich.i started looking at everyone that was squealing and they were the same tire that was on my truck. i took them off and put on new michelins and no squeal. mine even slid in the parking lot on lose gravel.they were terrible. i tried to get gm to replace at 12,000 miles and they would not. it is the TIRES,junk.

I'm in agreement with everyone else here; it's the tires. With the OE Firestones on my truck there was apparently one tire that would do this without fail. Whenever I did a tire rotation and this particular tire found itself on the front of the truck I had a squalling tire in every curve. When the tire was on the rear, I didn't notice it. I recently replaced the Firestones with BFGoodrich Land Terrains from Wally World.....so far no screech.

My Firestone Wilderness AT tires would squeal like a banshee if the weather was warm and I pushed it into a sharp turn like intersections. Sounded horrible and no amount of different in tire pressure worked. But it only started to happen after I had about 30K on the tires.

 

I dumped them last month for a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos. Whisper quiet and much better wet traction.

I know on my BFG Allterain TA KO's they squeel if I do a tight turn like changing directions on a two lane PAVED road. But im not sure if this is due to rubbing causing resistance on the pavement, or just because I am making a tight turn.

I never had a problem with the GY Wrangler RT/S on the old truck, but the Generals the new one has squeal alot.
