2004 4.3L Cruise

Hi everyone, New to the board here and just had a couple questions/ideas I thought I would run past you all.

First off, I am wondering if anyone out there has a 4.3L 2004 Silverado, and had thought about adding the factory Cruise control to it (assuming yours does not have it either).

I have looked at a few on the lot that do have the cruise control, and notice one issue I would run into if I was to actually add it to mine. Mainly, the mounting studs on the firewall for the cruise control module do not exist on my truck. (I will post some pics tomorrow once I get them off my camera). I figure there are a couple ways to overcome this. I can "High-Temp" epoxy the bracket/mount to the firewall directly. Or, drill through the firewall, and then tack weld the studs in myself. The connector for the cruise module is bolted to a little plastic bracket (the bracket is held on by the module mounting stud I think for the left side only the right module bracket studs are absent).

So, except for the cable and module all the wiring seems to be on the truck. Which leads me to believe I just need the module, cable and upgraded turn signal indicator w/cruise control. I am still waiting to receive my Service manuals from the dealer to verify this. Does anyone know off hand if the column itself needs to be swapped out? (If that is the case I am not doing it.)

So far, the cruise module from the dealer is around $400.00 (I am waiting for one to show up at a junk yard, or Ebay). I have found several that look exactly like the one I looked at on a 4.3L V6 with cruise at the dealer on Ebay, however they do not have similar numbers. On top of that, the numbers I got off the module of the vehicle at the dealer do not show up in the dealers computer. They show a different part number (and so far have been VERY unwilling to give me the part number, Dealers su@k).

Anyway, Just looking for comments or ideas. Aftermarket cruise controls are still an option but I would rather OEM.

Also, if anyone knows a good way to get the right, part numbers for the Cruise control Module that would be great too. When I post the pics tomorrow you can see the numbers I got off the factory equipped truck.

Thanks in advance
