Cost effective yoke leak fix?

Hey guys - I recently purchased my second chevy truck (full sized this time), and I have what I'm hearing is a very common problem. I've ran a search in this forum and in the 1500,2500 forum with no real set answer.

How are you 88-95 lo3/lo5 A4 guys fixing the leaking yokes? I've heard everything from silicon, to the solution described here YokeLeak Fix (Left click, go to properties, copy the URL, and paste it into a new IE window.)

Now that yoke leak fix link solution looks practical, so I pulled the driveshaft, extension housing, and found, I don't have that lttle cup, let alone the o-ring! My only thought was the previous owner slapped a junkyard trans in the truck, and the trans came from a car. BUT THAT IS WHEN IT GOT INTERESTING! I went to dealership, ordered that O-Ring, and then tried to describe the "Cup." Well, an hour later, the parts counter guys informed me that they only find that cup for the 6.2 diesel in 1988, and not the LO3 or LO5 trucks.

So, is there a dealership error, and I am supposed to have that cup? Can I eliminate that hole weep hole all together? What would you guys do? If it helps, the truck is a 1988 c1500 lo5/A4.

PS - This is my first post, & it's been a pleasure to have read a lot of things you guys have written.
