Water Leak

Hey folks...I bought a set of those really cool formed carpeted mats from GM today (made by Nifty), and I had to lift the carpet edge panel up to install this velcro-thing to keep the mat in place.

When I lifted the plastic carpet edger on the passenger side, I noticed lots of water laying on top the rocker panel valley, and part of my carpet close to the edge was wet....(drivers-side was ok).

Has anyone else had this problem and found a cure?????

I looked at the weather-stripping around the doors, and it looks ok. Could the water be coming from the cowl area???

Oh by the way, I've got an '01 Sierra Extended Cab 4x4.....

Any takers?????

Thanks!!!

I have '95 GMC OBS ext. cab and never had any water leaks till the remains of Frances passed over Western NY a couple of weeks ago...I believe it rained so hard that the drains in the cowl couldnt keep up with the volume of water and backed up into the HVAC plenum.....could be that or your A/C drain may be plugged....just a thought

I also had this problem one time with my '99 ext. cab K1500. It happened just about a year ago and when the remnants of another hurricane passed by the D.C. area. The edge of the carpet all along the front driver and passenger sides were soaking wet. I removed the plastic trim panels/covers over the rocker panels, sopped up as much water as I could, and left it to dry over night. It hasn't happened again.
