Waring Light

[2000 GMC]

First time it's happened to me since owning the truck, but this morning the light came on on my Message Center saying "SERVICE 4WD. It hasn't come on again since. I changed out the fluid on the transfer case about a month ago. Could this have been a fluke or should I have it looked at? Anything I can to myself?

There are several posts on here about having to change out the switch where your cluster is.

 

The same think happened to me about a year ago now. I took it into the dealer and all they had to do was update the software in the computer and do a hard boot to get it cleared (they said). It hasnt returned since then so they did something to it.

Most likely it is just the switch. Its a very common problem. when i bought my truck this year the 4WD service light was on. I changed the switch and it has not come on since. Call your local GM dealer. I'm sure they will tell you that they have tons in stock because these switches are being replaced ALL the time. I think its like $40

Thanks for the reply fellas. I'm going to change out the switch before the switch go's completely bad. Something to do this weekend.
