Cleaning MAF Sensor

I saw a TSB on here in another post that outlines all the problems I am having with my truck. Unfortunately, it did not list how to fix the problem. The TSB number is 04-07-30-013, but I have been unable to find any more info. on it. The cause is from oil from my K&N filter getting on the MAF sensor. Is there any way to clean the MAF sensor? Or is it something I would need to replace? My cost on a new one would be about $128 - a small price to pay to get my truck running right again. If I do have to replace it, would I need to get any re-programming done at the dealer?

You can get some electronics cleaner, like the kind from Radio Shack. Spray it down but don't touch it, let it air dry, and you should be alright. As long as the wires haven't broken you should be able to get away with just cleaning it.

also clean your trottle body while you have the maf off. it takes only a couple of min. to

do. when you oil your filter again dont use SO much oil next time

if you do just clean off again

That's what bugs me, I never oiled the filter. It came pre-oiled from K&N. I've had in in for 2 years now and my restriction gauge never moves so I figured it was still clean. I just occasionaly pull the big bugs and stuff off of it. Should I try to get K&N to buy me a MAF sensor?

 

As far as cleaning, thanks for the help. I was debating wheter to use carb. cleaner or contact cleaner. I have a bunch of contact cleaner sitting around. I'll give a try and see what happens. It's amazing how a little oil on this thing can cause so many annoying problems.

I have mud caked in mine, no problems yet, kock on wood!! Ill have to try some electronics cleaner
