Air Boz saves gas?

Forum,

Tomorrow there will be a review/report in the SF Examiner. The interview with a newspaper reporter took place this AM. We will post the link if it is ok with the GM Forum staff.

I see basically what you are doing to acheive the results.. But.. I have a question on the "No loss of HP" statement...

If you are essentially blocking off half of the throttle body then how can the max HP NOT be affected by this? How can the engine reach unrestricted Maximum rpm with this in place? I am confused...

they dont test wot dyno runs probably, only half or quarter throttle, this is what they did with a dirtbike thing called a power now, it stabalized intake air, but thats with a slide, this thing will give you gains so long as you dont go farther than half throttle, after that its going to choke air down, but i havent seen any tests nor have i used it so im not really in a position to judge it like that

I wonder how this thing will work with the Vararam? Wonder if the gains are additive..

you would probably see again until around 2500 - 3500 rpm until the engine is dying for more air, if the engine makes power by increasing airflow efficiency, i highly doubt you will see a gain by disrupting efficiency at high rpms, for me i would stick with the vararam, the tbody insert and if you really want, a new throttle body

"But not everyone is convinced. A group of auto enthusiasts on an Internet bulletin board is split over Airboz's capabilities, and AAA has never formally endorsed any of the countless fuel-efficiency products on the market."

Could this be us? :tear:

Hmmm, I must admit, I'm intrigued, and I usually don't fall for gimmicks, which is why I'm reading so intently. At 75+ miles a day, mostly highway, I'm averaging almost 28K miles a year on my Tahoe. I average about 16mpg out of about 22 gallons, or about 350 miles. I'd love to bring that up, even to 375. Seems to me though that if it's this simple, manufacturers would have done it already. What would they have to loose by doing it? Nothing.

i think it would work with applications that do not see anything above 3000 rpms, or high way applications which is where testing is primarily done according to the website, i think its a product that is designed for a specifc group in mind, if you want power dont get it, if you drive high way and want mpg get it, for me i see some city driving and a lot of towing under 3/4 throttle, maybe if i could remove it or put it back on i would defenitely use it for long road trips, i would rather not be the guinea pig for this one though...

I remember this popped up here a few months back. If you think about what it's doing, it looks like it's creating a wing out of the throttle plate. From an aerodynamic perspective, it seems plausible that it could actually work. You would think that the thing cuts your throttle body in 1/2, but the air travelling under the airboz would be speeding up quite substantially, and at a lower pressure.

But, I don't see price mentioned anywhere. Always gives me a "sucker 'em into calling, never let 'em go without a sale" feeling to me. Even if it works, just how long would it take to pay itself back in fuel savings? Without that cost, you couldn't even guess.
