5.7 vortec to duramax

is it possible to swap a duramax into my 98 silverado z-71 with 5.7

Anything is possible!

That is a very big undertaking but can be done. Wester's should be able to program the DMax computer to work with your truck.

Could end up much cheaper to sell the truck and buy one with a Dmax though!

There's an 88 stepside 4x4 silverado in the Dec./Nov. issue of truck trend with a duramax/alison combo. So it can be done. The article doesn't give much detail about the swap, but it shows pictures. It's a really clean fit.
