HELP!  Remove side mouldings?

Recommended Posts

Being the honest guy that I am, I have a confession to make.

I used to think it was rediculous when people couldn't make up their own mind about what they wanted to do to THEIR trucks and wanted others opinions.....after all it is THEIR truck.

What have I come too!

Here I am....I'm with those guys.

My wife, Michelle,is a less is more kinda gal who stays clear of garrish and tacky.

I am considering taking of my side mouldings (have already removed the 4 x 4 decal and it looks a lot better).  I find that the side moulding may be "too much".  For the first time ever, my wife disagrees.  Her opionion.....it will look naked or like something is missing.

Can't win for losing!  I think that she is just playing with my mind!

I have done some crude computer enhancements to see what it would look like, but I am still not sure.

I really don't want to remove them and be sorry.

If this posting will work, I have also posted some pics of other trucks with the mouldings removed (although they look better simply because they have bigger tires and lifts).

So, sorry to all those who I thought didn't have what it took to make up their own minds...guess I'm with ya!

It only took me about 50 tries to get the pics posted, but here they are!

Thanks, looking forward to your input!

Dwight

Nice truck

Id say leave them on only because the chrome on the side molding compliments the chrome nerf bars

With it removed it looked like it is missing something and i would have to agree with your wife it looks naked.

With your chrome push bar, nerfs and mirrors, I'd leave the molding on.  It's a nice balance.  The other red truck you posted has none and even painted mirrors, so it looks smooth.  If you had black molding with all of your chrome extras I'd say remove 'em, but I think the chrome molding looks "schnazzy!" -

It looks good with the emblems removed (I've done that myself, for now) but I'd leave the chrome trim on.  I think it goes very well with the rest of your truck.

IMHO I think the large Chrome mouldings look a little garish.  Try a compromise.  Paint the mouldings body color except a small (maybe 1/4") strip down the middle, leave that chrome.  You'll be guaranteed to be different from others and it'll reduce the amount of chrome but still leave enough for effect with the nerf bars and such.

Get rid of the emblems and leave the chrome moldings...  I too took off the 4x4 sticker and I think the emblems are next but I'll leave the moldings on...

Leave it all on.  And I mean everything that came on the truck from the factory.  IMO these trucks don't look right without the factory stuff on the truck.

I'm gonna have to agree with most of the people hear.  Leave 'em on.  I took mine off  my truck but they weren't as nice as the GMC ones.

Well, so far both of the tailgate emblems and the 4 x 4 decals have been removed.

It does look much cleaner.

Although most of you have said to leave on the side moulding, I am still not quite sure.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

you gotta  be kidding me...

how can you like all that junk they put on them from factory,  it's looks like your driving nothing but a sponsorship.

It's out of place, and useless.
