The best 6.0 bang add on for the buck

I have an 03 2500HD with the 6.0 engine with 4:10 gears and towing package. I have added a few things things to it that didn't come on the blue truck. I added the power extendable towing mirrors and driving lights, 265/75 tires and bought smooth fender flares and had them painted the matching blue. Now I am looking at some performance mods. The driveline is stock. I like the fact that the exhaust is not super loud but still has a nice rumble at idle but it is not noticable when driving. Is there a performance muffler that is less restrictive but will sound similar? Also what about an aftermarket air intake? Where should I start? I have been looking at the Westers site and since I started reading here I will check Nelsons. Any help would be great.

I also have a 66 Nova and a 2000 Vette and have found great forums to help me with them. I am glad I found this one for my truck.

nelson will get you going in the right direction for sure. man on the cold air intakes. UPD (NSV) will crack. volant is having problems. i like the k&n the best. magnaflow 12569 will sound good and should shoe right in with the stock piping. :flag:

Thanks 02. I am actually on the Magnaflow web site right now. Thanks for the part number. I have seen your other posts about your thoughts on the Nelson work. Do they have a web site? For the ignorant......what does UPD (NSV) or NSV stand for? I am guessing some type of plastic piping instead of metal.

Has anyone had any experience with the AEM Brute Force induction kit? Also, just to be sure, I could always crawl under the truck, but the Magna Flow 12569 is a direct bolt on correct? I am seeing that for around $100. That's not too bad and the AEM for $200. Thanks again.

Cool. Thanks. I just ordered the stainless version of the 12569 Magnaflow. It was only $20 more. $105 to be exact. I will probably grab the intake kit by the weekend and go from there. :flag:

Actually I just realized that PCMforless is minutes away. I just got off the phone with Bryan and read a bunch of posts here about his work. I will probably get one of his 91 octane tunes done one night next week. His prices are great especially if you live close and drive the truck there. I might exen have him do my 2000 C5 if we can work out a 2 for deal. That already has a bunch of SLP protoype mods on it but they didn't touch the PCM. Things are looking up as the temps drop.

:( Well we put the muffler on today. Not exactly a bolt on but nothing ever is. Very nice rumble with no difference in idle tune. Just a little more when you get into it but overall very nice. My exhaust guy owns a 93 Silverado SS and when we finished it was off to PCM for Less for the both of us. Bryan hooked us both up in a matter of a half hour or so then we went for a test drive. The SS was pinging a little bit but we put about $30 of 94 octane in it and it was gone. That truck has had nothing done but the the PCM and it is a rocket ship! Bryan peaked my rev limiter to 6100 and changed my shift point in the non tow/hauling mode to around 5600. The 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are super crisp. There is no delay like there was with the trans getting from one gear to another or pulling out like there used to be. That was money well spent. You guys have to check this guy out. For the extra $200 or $300 dollars you would pay for a Westers or Nelson I am not sure what you would be getting besides the free updates but I am very happy. Thanks for the help.
