XM static?

I have a Terk XM commander installed to the factory headunit in my truck using a FM modulator. Here is the story. Whenever i have it cranked up i can hear static , if i change the radio frequenct where the FM modulator works at the statis goes away but given a little while its right back again. Is there a better way to hook it up instead of the FM modulator (AUX button?) or any suggestions??

Also I have a GM 6 disc changer from a 99 Denali that I would like to install with the casette head unit and cd slave unit. I know they come like that factory installed in all escalades and denali. Maybe somebody makes an aftermarket hanress or something?

Your user stats sez you are in New York City. I'll bet there are just too many FM stations in that area for your RF modulator to work interference-free, even if you threw in an antenna disconnect switch. Only solution might be more of a direct feed into the radio by way of the accessory port, as you suggested.

I'd suggest going to http://www.jpcustoms.com and dig around there for some adapter boxes/harnesses. Others here might have some other sites as well.

Good call Irymal,

That wouldbe my first step.

My second suggestion comes from me a user with XM but quite possible could be true in your instance if in fact your setup has this. I know with most electronics, a good ground for your antenna helps out tremendously. i was having the same problems with my XM until i found a meter in the unit itself that allowed me to move my antenna around until i got the best signal strength on the truck. not sure if this will help.
