high beams and fog lights

does anybody know if there is an after market wire harness or a easy way to set up the factory fog lights on a 2001 2500 hd so that they stay on with the high beam headlights? thanks in advance for any help.

By looking at the schematics only... I see that:

Even Radio Shack will have these: Diode (1n4004 is common, most 1n400X will work).

Disconnect the batt (-)

U-hood junction box:

Connect the unbanded end to a dark green w/white tracer wire, on connector 1, row B-3. The banded end (Cathode) connects to a purple wire @ Connector 4, B-4.

Or, at the BCM:

You can connect the anode (unbanded end) to Connector 2, A-7 (Dark Green-Whi) and the cathode (banded end) to B5 of the same connector (Purple).

I suggest you get some clear heat-shrink tubing that will insulate the bare diode & leads.

If it's outside and you use the scotch-lock connectors, protect them from the environment. Make sure they "bite" the bare wire under the insulation.

We do this sort of thing in the Avalanche club for DRL's always on with the headlights and for "All four on w/brights".

Since I can't post a graphic here, you will need a manual to locate/ID the connector's.

I know in the state of California it is illegal to run the fog lights and the high beams at the same time. One of the best improvements you can make is to have the low beams stay on when the highbeams come on. You can also upgrade the highbeam bulbs to a higher wattage but that requires upgrading the wiring.

Same way here in Pa.,can't run fog lamps and high beams together. :banghead:

Personally, I don't have them that way. The all four on high is a considerable improvement - fogs, maybe just looks. I don't really notice if the fog's are on or off if the other lights are on anyway. I have to look closely or notice the indicator.

That would turn the fogs on when you may not want them on with park lamps.

However that could be slaved with a relay and only a particular mode. But diodes are 59¢ for two..

Not much more or less than a chunk of automotive hook-up wire..

I still like my all four on High, now that lights up the road a lot better....But not like HID's.
