 Guys I am going crazy here!!! I let my wife keep my truck this week and I drove her 01 malibu , thinking it would save me on gas, but it really sucks. At first I thought it was the TCC soleniod, but now I think it is a sensor or something. Her car has a 3.1 in it and it used to get abou 28 or 29 MPG but now it gets abou 23MPG if that  . I am just looking for advice or some one to point me in the right direction. Is there a forum for GM cars ( a good one) ?

Any help would be appreciated. If I cant fix it, Im just gonna DRIVE MY TRUCK at least it has POWER(a little) to go with the sucky gas milelage.

My 93 grandprix gets about 27 or 28mpg.But it has 260,000miles on it  When it was new it would get 31. I remember having to change the fuel filter once and it helped the mileage some,so now I keep a closer eye on the fuel filter and change it regularly. Also the 3.1 is very sensitive to the fuel/air mix so be sure the air filter is clean and there are no obstructions in the intake area.

I would suggest checking tire pressure, alignment (maybe), air filter, fuel filter, plugs and wires, maybe even freshen all the fluids in it.

I did all this to my truck and gained considerable fuel economy which has started tapering off, time for me to check it all again.

In my case it was approximately 3-5 mpg gained. A lot of the items I mentioned were severly neglected by the previous owner air filter especially.

I have kept the Oil and air filters changed regularly. The fuel mileage just dropped off one week like you turned off a switch. I think it is a sensor Possibly IAT. I plan to change the fuel filter and :banghead: trans filter/fluid this weekend. And will check the plugs and Probably change the IAT. I will post my results. Thanks to all.
