Dmax starts then dies

Hey people,

I'm new here and need some help. I have a 2002 Duramax 24k miles that has a few problems. Main problem, 3 weeks ago started my truck it ran for 15 seconds then died would not restart. The dealer towed ot in and replaced all of the injectors. 75mi and 5 starts later same exact problem. Dealer tows in and replaces the both batteries???? 50 or so miles and 5 or 6 starts later, same exact problem. Dealer tows in and replaces injection pump. Drove home and the very next day guess what. I loved my truck for the first 24000 miles and I knew the injectors would go eventually but what good is a truck that runs for 15 seconds a week. The dealer has put more miles on it than I have in the last month.

 

Second problem when the truck does run the alternator takes about 30 to 60 seconds to start charging. Light are dim guage reads 10-12 volts. Then all of a sudden "click" bright lights and 14 volts.

 

Any ideas???????????

when the truck does run does it show good oil pressure? There may be a shut down switch contolled by a computer that may be screwing up. I don't know what that d-max has, but the Caterpillar engine in one of our 4wd tractors has a reset switch on the dashboard. I figure the d-max computer would reset automatically but yours might not be getting a reading on start-up so it kills the engine and doesn't reset.

This is normal. I can't remember for sure, but I recall something about the fuel heater or something causing the low voltage at first.
