DRL's not working

I know there is a known problem with DRL's burning out prematurely...I just went to change my clear bulbs to ambers, and I noticed that the plug and bulb were black. I then went to see how the new bulbs looked...and they didn't work. The headlights were on instead...this was in the daytime. I checked the fuse and relay under the hood...both are fine. I also checked the parking brake lever to make sire it was up all the way...it was. I also checked the old bulbs...it turns out they were still good. So the only thing I can think of is bad wires, or the sensor that decides if its day time or night time...Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance...

If memory serves me right, the drl's won't work in park. Might want to try shifting into neutral or drive and have someone else check them out. Though from your description, it sounds like something else may be up unfortunately. :D

correct. Also do not work when park brake is on.. So don't try putting in N and using park brake either. I usually pull up to something reflective to see whats going on if no one is around to help.

I recently replaced my DRL's with ambers (Silvannia 3157/4157 NALL as recommended here), and to check their operation, I backed my rear tires against a curb in a parking lot, turned the truck off, then put they key in the on postition and put the gear selector in drive. The parking lot was slightly sloped so the truck stayed stationary against the curb while I admired the amber glow. Then I enjoyed the amber glow of an ice cold Bud. :D
