hi, i just recently got a black 04 silveardo and i just took the badges/emblems off it. just used heat gun to heat it up and it came right off. but i have questions about the side moldings. are they held on to the car by double sided tape like the emblems or do they have actual holes on them? i really dont like it, looks tacky so im thinking of taking them off. thanks!

Gonna suggest you get another set of hands for this heat-and-peel job. If you don't want to risk putting a bad crimp in the trim pieces, it may help to have someone else holding the detached end away from the panel while you work further down the length of the trim piece.

This is because you may want to re-attach those trim pieces sometime in the future (e.g. at time of resale). They can easily be re-applied - lots of parts stores, even K-Mart, sell that 3M tape. A crimp mark would look terrible.

Though it hasn't yet been mentioned in this thread, it often helps to slide a thin plastic wire behind the trim piece you're removing, to aid in pulling it off. That allows you to pull the trim piece straight out from the sheet metal, instead of having to bend it backward so much. I used a short section of weed-eater line when I did mine.
