2005 Chevy trucks.....

I thought I heard an ad on the radio or tv about remote start being available from the factory on some sort of 2005 Chevrolet vehicles but wasn't paying attention whent he ad was on. Does anyone know anything about this..??

I think it is on the Malibu. Have not heard otherwise.

The G6 is the replacement for the Pontiac Grand AM.

It's what Ophrah gave away to everyone in her studio audience at the beginning of this season.

Yep,as of now the Malibu and the G6 are the only GM products to have remote start.

Wait, GM is offering factory remote starts on those cars?!?! Wow...I wondered when that was going to happen! Do they come off the line that way or are they installed at the port? I wonder how long until this becomes old news and all of the manufacturers jump on board.

I'm hoping when I am ready to order my new HD2500 truck &/or when my girfriend's Suburban is ready to be replaced with a new Sub that GM is offering it on the trucks.....

budhayes3, They come right from the factory that way as long as you order them with it,its not something we can install as an "add-on" or accessory,at least not yet.

I've played with a few here at the dealership and it works pretty neat

I've got one (an '04 Malibu LT loaded). The remote start seemed like a cool gimmick for the first 6 months that I owned the car. But that was mainly because the outside temperatures were comfortable enough that I didn't need the car heated or cooled to feel good when I got in it. Now that winter's here, I've used it several times, and love it even more! (The cars with the automatic climate control will kick it on when you remote start, and heat / cool as necessary to reach the preset desired temperatures. This works even if you've turned the automatic function off, but only until you insert the key and turn it to 'start', at which point the special mode is cleared.)

I'd love to get a system this well integrated installed on my Silverado.

Not true. The Cadillac STS has it and it should be available on many of the models with keyless start by mid year. It is kind of a clunky system, with several different buttons needing to be pushed before she will crank over. I think it would be worth the hassle to have though!
