Oil cooler lines

Is it a pretty straight forward job or a pain in the butt? The dealer wants $120 in labor so that means about 1 1/2 hours. Anything to watch out for?

NOt sure about the difficulty if you want to do it yourself, my understanding from some friends was that it would be a pain, but it may not be at all. I ended up having mine done by a local garage a few years ago that is not the dealer. It cost me around $90 if I remember correctly and i haven't had a problem since.

2wd isn't bad

4wd are a real headache

considering the consequenses if an oil cooler line blows out u might

feel better getting the dealer to do it

seen more than 1 jimmy come in on the hook engine locked

cause the cooler line let go

I watched one go as the person pulled in to the parking lot of the garage where I had mine done and the engine was gone before they had a chance to shut it off. Those pressurized lines just emptied it in a second.

It's not all that hard. My 99 ZR2's lines started leaking around 33,000 miles. It still had the warranty so the dealer did it. It's not all that hard. Just drop the skid plate and have the right tools and you should be fine. I would suspect about 1- 1 1/2 hours to do the job.

I'm having the dealer do it. The fact that the rain is coming down in buckets has changed my mind. I'll let the dealer crwal under it and get soaked.

My mechanic noticed mine wear leaking and changed them about 2 weeks ago.

took about 2 hours for him to change them.

if you can? i would see if there is aftermarket ones available...seems to be a common problem with the GM ones leaking. they were 2 crimps on the collar and they changed them to 3 (something like that?)

Anyone know if they have corrected this problem?

it's like death and taxes, oil cooler lines will leak it's just a matter of when.

but the problem is more common if been told in places that have a wide range of temperatures because the aluminum and rubber expand and contract at

different rates.

The dealer told me they are on the 5th design change of the lines. I had the first one changed out about 50K miles ago,and its held up fine.

I heard only a 2nd design....Not 5.

Mine have been going strong since 32,000 and Im at 59,800 now.

The hardest part is getting that little wire clip out of the fitting for the lines at the engine....and then fishing them around the front axle....and everything else!

I picked up the Blazer last night,and didn't get a chance to look at the line. This morning I went to check out their work and found they replaced them both. Only one line was leaking,so they either replaced them both without asking and didn't want to piss me off by trying to charge me for both,or I got an early Christmas present.

2 lines are joined together to make 1.

they have to replace it as a kit..
