Anyone done the "PAC VCI-GM2" (ribbon cable) interface

to enable use of the TNR (or ANY of the GM) NAV radio screens as a monitor for a back-up camera?

(JP Customs sells this "kit")

If there is already a thread on this topic please direct me to it

Any helpful info, tips, suggestions would be greatly appeciated

Somebodys got to have done this mod to their GM NAV radio :ughdance:

Thanks!

Sperry,

"internal flex" do you mean the internal ribbon interface cable?

How is the picture and does it interfere with the radio's operation or functions?

Thanks

does this only add video or does it add video and sound, I'm thinking of getting one for the j/s nav (INR) and connecting it to a aftermarket dvd player instead of a rear camera.

It's reasonable, but so far I only have the cheap camera hooked to it. I just need to patch/switch in the entertainment video to evaluate it. I didn't have to set anything but that's just to track the levels between cam/video and the nav operation.

I didn't see even the slightest difference in the normal nav/radio screen mode.

Sound? That could just be arranged with slaved switching and your favorite aux adapter.

The model adapter I have was an earlier one that switched video manually. I believe the later ones have a relay. The audio could be slave relay or toggle switched in the same manner for an entertainment mode.

If you feel that you may need some access to the trim adjustments in the RGB box, you may want to place it in a more easily accessed area. Mine isn't as I have it up and behind the HU.

No regrets so far..

Edit: Forgot to answer your question.. Yes, but is isn't an IDC type ribbon wire cable like that of a computer IDE/FDD/SCSI HDD wire cable. It's a polyimide "printed" flex ribbon type circut.

I am also interested in doing this mod, but would like to hear from those who have tried this already.
