Well, Monday afternoon at work I found out that I got the positon that I wanted in our Service Department (I work for a Lexus dealership). I've been in this wierd position in the sales dept for the last six months that I don't wan't to get too indepth about now, but lets just say that it was very off-character for me, very degrading, and I completely hated it. I've been in service all of my life, and still don't know how I got ru-rued into the sales dept. Anyway, with my new position, I'm going to be performing light service work and repairs at our customer's homes and businesses, to save them the trip of coming in, and to take some of the load off of the shop. It's great, I call the customers, set up the route, and I'm out of the shop all day. Plus I've found that when you convenience someone like this, they tend to tip (tax free monies is very nice). :fume:

The same day I came home and found out that I passed all 8 of my ASE recertification tests, now I just have to recert L1 in the Spring...what a great day. :fume:

Too bad I woke up the next day achey and feverish. :D I rode it out until today, then finally had to go to the doctor...stuck in bed on anitbiotics until at least Monday. :ughdance: Not the way I wanted to start out my new position, but some things you really can't control or count on. I actually think that I got so excited that I got myself sick! Hopefully I'll get my flu out of the way and be set for winter! :flag:

Sorry about the long post, not sure if it's the fever talking or what, but I just felt like sharing some good news!

:flag: Congrats!!!

Man, not only does that sound like a pretty cool job (how much more are people going to appreciate your work if its "delivery"?!?! haha), but WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!! Now this may be something that is commonplace, possibly even around here, but I've sure never heard of it! The convenience offered by the guys that do mobile windshield repair is awesome and to have that same convenience for minor auto work ... wow! I need to send this thread to some local dealerships, LOL!

Again, congratulations on the new job (sales would NOT be something for me either) and hope ya feel better soon. :ughdance:

Awesome, man. That sounds like a good job to have, much better than being stuck in the shop all day. Nothing's worse than having a job that you can't stand. Hope everything works out for you :ughdance:

Thanks for all of the good wishes folks! We're really trying something new here with this concept, I don't know of any other dealers in my area that do anything like this...it's not roadside assistance, I'm actually setting up appointments and arriving at a specified time. So far I've been able to keep about a 1/2hr to hour window, as most of our customers won't accept "I'll be there between 1 and 5." I feel very optimistic about the whole deal!
