Double Din Installation Kit

Does anyone know who makes a double din installation kit for the '04 Silverado? I have seen one but can't remember who made it.. I know the kit number was ***422....

If you're talking about a kit that fits a single-DIN unit into your double-DIN opening, here's a couple that work:

 

Metra 99-3301

 

American International GMK420

 

Both of these have the "pocket" below the head unit, which I had on my '96 Sonoma and really liked (I bought the Metra for my Blazer).

 

If you're looking for an installation kit to install a double-DIN aftermarket head unit, I haven't seen one yet.

Actually the American International was the one I was thinking of. According to the book at the stereo store the GMK422 is a double din install kit for my Silverado but according to this site that kit is for a Suzuki.. will have to look into this further...

I have the Metra kit for the double-DIN opening in my '04 Blazer. Here's what it looks like:

 

 

The RCA jacks are for the auxiliary input (portable MP3 player or whatever other toy I want to hear). They're bolted to the "pocket" so there's no fooling with patch cords in the dash area - just plug and play. An advantage to this type of kit is that it puts the head unit up high enough that the bracket thingie inside the dash (stabilizes the back of the stock radio) doesn't get in the way of the harness and wires coming out of the head unit. With certain kits you have to cut off the bracket to get aftermarket units to fit. And when you're cramming in this many wires....

 

 

....you want all the space you can find!

That is what is called a 1 1/2 DIN kit, not a full double din.. The 1 1/2 DIN kits are the standard for the Chevy kits but I want to push it out to a full double DIN..
