Stock Height

I installed green keys last night. Pretty easy.

I cranked the original keys to just about the max the bolt would allow. I had about 1/4" of the bolt sticking out.

The height from the ground to the bottom of the wheel molding was 40" on both sides.

I installed the green keys and barely screwed in the bolt --some is hanging out of the torsion bar crossmember. With these in the new measurement is 40 3/4"

What's the stock, bone stock with no adjustments, height?

What is everyone else's measurements with green keys?

Now I'm sure I'll have to get shocks. I've got to go take it for a ride and decide if I like it or not. If not the ol' keys will be back in.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide... ;)

Using centerline of wheel from ground to wheel moulding is 37.5". Rear height is 39.9". Tires are 245/75. Truck is 6.0 2500HD reg cab 4x4. Maybe this measurement would help more. Center of front wheel to moulding is 23.5".

After messing around some more I got the front just a pinch lower than the rear. The rear measures 41" from the ground to the bottom of the wheel well opening in the middle.

The front Measures 40 3/8" The ride I swear feels better than with the stock keys maxed out.

I'm going to get an alignment in the AM to top it off.

So I'm about right then I guess with my height...

Thanks for taking the time to get that for me. I do really appreciate it.

Any other takers? :jester:

what is the advantage to installing the green keys? I would think you could remove the bolts in the stockers and install a longer bolt, say about 1/2" longer providing you make sure you use bolts of the same or higher grade.

With my stock keys maxed out and a 2" lift block in the rear, I'm at...

40.25" in the front

42.25" in the rear

with the stock 245's

Was the alignment shop able to get your front wheels aligned back to stock specs with the green keys? Did you even tell them you changed the keys?

By the way, even with Rancho 9000 shocks, it still has a harsh ride, something still bangs when I hit a bump or hole.....I guess I need to add some washers and/or spacer at the bottom.

I may try the green keys too.

I went to Sears to get an alignment. I told the guy I changed the torsion bar keys and actually went back there in the shop to help him do the alignment---made it go faster + I knew how to do it myself, just didnt have a rack in the garage.

I have the factory shocks, and I swear it rides better. It's adjusted the same as it was before---err 3/4" higher It rode like a tank with the stockers maxed out.

I was able to get the alignment back to specs--I was suprised but there was enough adjustment on everything thankfully.

because at that index, the key bottoms out agains the torsion bar crossmember. re indexed keys are needed.
