I never expect a car/truck to be perfect. All of my cars/trucks in the past have averaged probably 1-2 warrantly issues every 3-6 months (GM, Nissan, Acura and Ford). Unfortunately, four things craped out the past week on my truck and I'm pretty pissed. I've had my truck now for almost two years. I think my truck had one issue the first year I had it, but recently it seems like I've been in the shop every 1-2 months with something. Part of the problem is the dealership, but they're still representing GM.

I was reading some posts tonight about folks complaining about POS trucks, and the subsequent folks that think they're just whining and it got me thinking. How much is too much? To be perfectly honest, I've put my truck on probation. I'm in the market for a crew cab, and if it keeps acting up I'm taking my money elsewhere.

What are you willing to put up with???

I'll put up with a quite a bit, but some of the problems some of you guys have had (Lisa comes to mind) would send me over the top.

I'm too cheap to buy new, so repairs are all on me.

I've been a lucky SOB though. Nothing too major.

Although I do have to pull my intake manifold to replace my knock sensor soon. :D

I'm sure that there is probably a very valid reason why it's under there...But still, that doesn't mean I don't have an overwhelming desire to kick some engineer in the head for it.

I've been lucky so far. In the 6 or so months that I have had my car only the knock sensor and slave cylinder have needed replacement. I have an extended warranty with a $200 deductable so I put the knock sensor in myself and let GM put in a new slave and master cylinder for $200. My rear end is starting to make noise, but I guess thats what I get for dumping the clutch at 3K with slicks on.

As far as how much is too much, it's hard to say, because I can't afford to replace the vehicle. If anything major goes wrong, I'll just take it back to stock and tow it in and get it fixed for $200. :D
