Horn sounds weird...

Is there more than one horn on an 02 Silverado?? Mine sounds kinda anemic lately, but the fuse is fine. :D

How do you know which one is which and if its dead...other than sticking your ear next to it and blowing the horn. :D

Disconnect one and try the horn. If the horn sounds then you know the disconected one is bad. If the horn does not sound then the bad one is the one that is still connected. Are you confused enough now?

Just replace them with air horns!

:) I say get you four trumpts and put them in the fenders. Don't forget an air tank that will allow for a good 10 minute continuous blast!

Water is what usually kills a horn, I would just go buy replacements, they are fairly cheap. I would even go to JC Whitney and find something louder.

Had the same thing happen to my 01 Silverado last year before I traded it. Here's a link to the discussion and which horn is which. Really easy fix.

Thanks for the help guys...it turned out to be the high-note horn on the passenger side. Luckily thats the easy one to get to, the other one is buried behind the washer fluid reservoir. Now my truck doesn't sound like a Civic... :)

I replaced mine...here is a picture of the Air Tank and Compressor.  Horns are behind the Bumper.

d**n that's big!! Must sound like an air raid! I have air horns that I picked up from JC Whitney...nothing major, just cheap chromies. I wired them to a separate switch so I could retain the factory horn, and put the switch in the middle of the dash so the passenger could have some fun too.

Here you can see the air horns and a little bit of the compressor:

The horn button is above the pass side air bag off switch (that's a skull and crossbones next to the air bag switch)
