Now what!

Recommended Posts

'04 2500HD, first the Steering Knuckle....then at 8,000 miles the Front Diff comes apart....now 8,500 miles, driving to work, I hear "Boing!" from under the truck and felt it under my left foot, I ran nothing over, the only thing that comes to mind is Torsion Bars, but the truck sits level....any idea what to expect?....what should I check? :D

The Steering Knuckle is common (from what I hear), I would get a Knocking noise over bumps that could be felt thru the Steering Wheel. The Front Diff came apart on the second time I used the 4WD, made a got awful noise and clunking...was told the the Pinion Bearing Siezed to the point that they couldn't remove it, so they replaced the whole unit (Big $$$$). Now this other noise....who knows what's next with this truck.....I'm a die hard Chevy man, but its getting frustrating, whats gonna happen after warranty runs out.

vhato, nice truck....I shoulda got the 4 Door instead of the Extended Cab...what a pain to let rear passangers out when parked next to someone...not to mention loading groceries....but the Wife wanted the Extended Cab, and to make it more insulting...she won't drive the truck :D

Thanks man. We all have regrets. If I was to do it over again I would DEFINATELY buy the same truck, but upgrade to the Vortec 8100, Allison 1000 and 3.73's.

I am so agreeing with Beer Belly. I bought my 05 HD diesel Oct 04 and I dont even have 4000 miles when they already had to replace the drivers mirror, a/c & heater motor pump and i've been also getting this klunck in the steering which only makes it while making left turns, but the weird thing is that it doens't do it all the time...so i've been fed up with taking my truck in to the dealership..I am a CHEVY FAN but I never had so many problems with my last 03 hd.
