Mirror with turnsignal ?? connector??

Hello

This may have been asked before but I did not find anything on what I would like to know,

Does the trucks that do not have the turnsignal in the mirror have the Same harness in place as the ones that do??

I was wanting to upgrade to them but did not want to do any extra wire running..

this is on my 04 HD silverado.. It had the harness in place already for the fog lights and they worked without programming..

I assume GM uses the same harness for most all truck?

Please Help me out on this one.. Thanks

The harness will be the same but it depends on what you are upgrading to. If you currently have mirrors that are not power folding, heated, curb assisted, and auto dimming, your upgrade to ones that are there are some concerns. Your power mirror adjustment button must be capable of the power fold and you must have a rear defogger and heated mirrors now or these functions are not accessable. The defog feature probably has a relay somewhere in the electronics to control the heat. If you already have these features then you are good to go. If you want the curb assist feature to work properly you will have to have your PCM flashed. You need to post more detail about the options that already exist on your truck. I am not posative but here is a list of features that are on the deluxe mirrors.

integrated blinker

power folding

heated

curb assist

auto dimming driver side

If you add some detail I am sure there will be even some more knowledgable replies than this.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I should have added the specs/detail of what mine has.. My Bad,

anyway mine does have the power heated mirrors. I have the rear defogger also,

I don't think the power folding or extending would work as I do not have the switch for such.

I was thinking though that the mirrors with the blinker in them may plug to my harness and work?

right now I have the manual folding style that is heated and power adjustable.

Sorry this is so long....

I don't care if they are the extending or power folding.. I just want the blinker feature.. I figured GM would use the same harness/connector for the non blinker power mirror as they do for the ones with the blinker in them?

Thanks again for the help.

one more, If I was to replace the door switch to one that is for the power extending mirror the harness would work for that??

That would be Great if I could get the switch and the extending blinker heated mirror and just plug in and all work..

The harness will have the blinker feature already there so if you purchase the blinker integrated mirrors they will work. The only reason I was really curious about your options is that the blinker mirrors are only available with all of the other options(I think). When I ordered my 03 it was this way. If you have to pay the money for the mirrors with the folding motors built into them already you might as well spend a few extra bucks and buy the new switch and PCM flash(for the curb assist feature and auto dim). I know you said you did not care but, if they're equiped, what the hell. I have the power extending(regret that option). I have had to fold them in alot more than extend them and now wish I had stuck with the smaller power folder than pay $275 for the camper extenders.

Cool, so sounds like I should be in business then, I would like to have the extending feature as well as the blinker and so on but figured it would not be possible without alot of trouble.. I think I will look for the switch and a pair of the extenders then with the blinker in them..

I think you can get them with being only Heated, Power, Manual folding, and then the same with the blinker option as well..

then there are the others with curb assist, power folding, power extending and so on... they have 4-5 styles I believe..

after thinking about it I would like to end up with the power extenders heated with blinkers.. with as little mods as possible. the extend feature would be a nice plus as well..

I think in order for the "curb view assist" to function you must have DIC with steering wheel controls.

Would that be just the curb assist?

Yes, the curb assist is the only mirror function thats needs the steering wheel controls to turn it on or off, the other features will require the proper mirror switch in the drivers door module and programming of the BCM. The heating will only work if you have the rear defroster. The auto dim will only work if you have the auto dim mirror on the windshield, that is where the sensor is.

    • I know when I was looking around last year to see if someone handled Amsoil gear oil to buy at the retail level which of course means full price. I found an independent shop that works a lot on GM/Duramax pickups and they did not bring in the 75W-85 as they just stuck to the 75W-90 for the front and rear as a standard practice for the HD trucks which makes sense anyway for the higher hp/torque diesel and pulling heavy loads in four wheel drive. I haven't changed my diff oils yet but still plan on using the 75W-85 for the front diff as I highly doubt I will be beating on the truck and figured for my use type the bit thinner oil would be to my benefit for the winter for that slightly less drag. Very different weather here all winter vs northern Washington near the coast, that's for sure.
    • Ok that confirms the extra quart theme they are still going with which must mean they have noted some initial use more so then some engines and probably the bigger factor in all of this probably isn't the engine so much as its the insane distance or OLM that lulls a lot of the driving public into driving their new vehicle off the lot and not even doing one short interval oil change because the manufacturer doesn't say different and if the dealer follows that logic as well. Selling the rarely needing to be serviced concept seems to go over well with the public that wants to get away with as little as possible for dollars spent on the vehicles maintenance and I bet there are 3.0 engines just like other vehicles out there that never have their oil checked by the owner which goes back to why they probably felt the need to add that extra quart to avoid a costly theme.    Speaking of cutting filters open, it was probably over two years ago now that a youtuber who buys vehicles to do longer term reviews and pulls a fifth wheel through the mountains of Colorado on summer trips and that becomes part of the testing. Anyway he had a GM HD with the 6.6 gas and a Ford 250 with the 7.3 gas at the same time and of no surprise the Ford had more power etc but somewhere along the way in the few thousand miles he put on the truck, he changed the oil and was seeing glitter and cut open the filter and yeah, things were not looking spectacular. The truck about that time or soon after seemed down on power compared to what it had been and then threw some engine code, I expect the cam/lifters were failing and so he brought the truck back to the dealer and made some deal to get out of it as he knew it would sit for months waiting on a new engine as they were so backlogged at the time. He kept the GM for some time after that using it exclusively until he sold it after buying his next vehicle to do a review on. Definitely the filter can tell a story when things are starting to go sideways, but it would be a sickening feeling to cut it open and be faced with an ugly mess like that and be running a magnet through the pleats and the oil on the dirty side of the filter and see all the fines sticking to the magnet.    The dealer may have some ideas based on experience as to where that coolant smell is coming from, I would imagine if they can't find it but its smelling they would put dye in it to they could give it a run cycle and use the black light to see where it pops up, if its a hose connection, water pump, rad or even a head gasket etc.
    • Good looking truck, suspensionmaxx looks like a solid option
    • Thanks for the info, im considering a leveling kit or 4" lift kit.
    • charm.li (website) has the vehicle-specific diagnostic procedure for that code, you can use to find what the cause of it is.
