Denali Snow Tires

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to find any true snow tires for my denali. No one seems to make a true winter tire in the correct 17" size.

Tire Rack recommends downgrading to 16".

But I already brought an extra set of 17" Denali wheels.

I do some serious winter stuff like trailering 4000lbs through snow covered and icy roads. I need the assurance of snow tires !!!

I was looking at off-road mud tires, but the rubber compound is NOT suited for cold weather..

any suggestions ???

Bridgestone Revo's, they come in 265/70/17, I have them on my Escalade on the stck 17" wheels, I am in upstate NY many weekends snowmobiling where they measure snow by the foot, these tires give great traction, not much noise on the highway and a 500 tread wear rating, I will get these again for sure.

You should have some good choices. Most quality AT tires are snow rated and considered a true "snow tire". You can get Revo's or BFG AT's in 265/70 R17 and they are great in the snow and ice because of the sharp "edge". Besided arent snow tires bias radials. And arent bias radials really squirly on pavement.

If the correct size is P265/70R17 look at Bridgestone Winter Dueler and Nokian Hakkapelitta SUV. I don't have personal experience with either one but have read some rave reviews about Nokian winter tires.

GO Nokian, great tires. You can even get them studded .

Local builder in town has 03 Denali w/ Nokian Hakkapelitta tires. Does the same thing you do, trailer 4 snowmobiles in a few hundred miles. LOVES The tires.

The Winter Dueler and Blizzak are listed as different tires on Bridgestone's website. The link is to the spec sheet for the Winter Dueler's, scroll down and you'll find your size. If Tirerack doesn't carry the full Bridgestone lineup it shouldn't be difficult to find them somewhere else. You can also get info on the Nokian tires on their website.

Be sure and check out the "get a closer look" photo. The siping and cross channeling for slush dispersion are amazing.

Not all M&S rated tires meet RMA severe snow definition.

Most of the really good M&S severe snow tires are made of a different tread compound than traditional M&S tires. It is softer. You can dig your finger nail into it and tell the difference.

These type of tires will not give you long wear. That's why I decided to get mine studded and just use them in the winter.

Second on the cooper m/s tires. The softer rubber compound combined with the tread on these things makes a huge difference. Go through 6" snow no problem. Good on ice too. "Say yah to da U.P. eh?"

Those are rated LT 265-70-17

do the Blizzaks ride softer because they are rated P 265-70-17 ?

You'll get a firmer ride with LTs compared to P rating but get a much better tire.P rated tires are car tires with truck tread and have no business on a SUV or Truck.
