Best Shocks for 98 Sierra 1500

Hello Everyone, Maybe someone can give me some advice. I own a 98 GMC Sierra 1500 X-cab stepside 4X4 with 43,000 mi. on it. I am due for shocks. (I live in NYC, pothole capitol of the world ) My problem is I have a very bad back from an accident. I am asking if anybody knows of a shock that is a good replacement for me. Right now, my truck feels like its riding on a solid suspension, sometimes my head hits the roof over certain bumps. When I first bought the truck, I was impressed of how good it rode for a truck, very smooth and comfortable. Not that way anymore. I really dont do heavy hauling, and if I do, its only for like a mile or two. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks everybody.

Probably your 2 best bets would be either a set of Bilsteins or some Ranchos.
