04 Half-Ton Crew

I'm really regretting my Half-Ton Crew Cab purchase. It's the small bed

that I dislike the most . Anyone here with me on this ?

I even had a crazy idea of seeing if an EXT. cab bed would fit ! I know i'm crazy but the bed is killing me

Well, sure. Sure it is small. Depends on the purpose you have for the bed of the truck. In my case, I don't need the short-bed or long bed. The short-short bed is just fine. I mean, the 5'8" bed should certainly be part of the purchasing decision.

 

Placing a longer bed on the truck would probably look a little goofy since the back wheels wouldn't be in the "right" position.

It is just the right size for me, granted I don't haul much and if I am hauling something it usually trailer sized. I must point out that I have access to trailers and live in a rural area so parking with one isn't a concern.

I only haul sled and atv gear so the bed is fine........I tow plenty ,no buyers remorse here.I love my truck!

It wouldn't fit between the rear wheels and cab anyway.

Do you have a toolbox or anything? Some people have bought bed extenders that add a little bit more contained usable space. If it bothers you that much trade her. I myself would even consider trading with you....

It's true the bed is shorter on these trucks, and it depends on how you use it. BUT, it sure is nice not to have my 18th month old kicking the back of my seat like he did in the extended cab. It's also nice not to have to fight with the suicide doors in a parking lot to get the kids into the back seat. (No disrespect to any Ext Cab owners). Also, I have a Ford Supercrew (01) experience to compare to. At least the Chevy bed is standard width with no bed extender in the way. I can haul basically anything I want with the tailgate down (provided the General has fixed the tailgate cable problems) with much more ease that I could in my Ford. The d*@m extender was in the way more than it helped. (Was nice to haul groceries in the back) Besides I'd rather pull a trailor if I'm needing to move something major. I guess it's a "to each his own," but I love MY crew!!

That was the main reason I bought what I did -- 2500 GMC CC - now called a 1500HD

Off topic and I don't want to start a war between should I lower or raise it. But I have found that it is also much easier to load things into the back of a Chevy vs. Dodge and Ford because the bed isn't a mile off the ground. Just a thought.

I too had to buy the 2500 so that I could have a regular short bed. Thats minimum length in my book when you haul dirt bikes and all of the stuff that goes with them in the bed. Its a shame they even thought it was a good idea to make a bed shorter than short. Same goes for the Colorado's. They go through all the trouble to design a new truck from the ground up and stick it with a puny little excuse for a bed. Stupid is all I can say when Toyota (new for 05) and Nissan both offer full 6' beds on crew cab mini/mid size trucks. Nice goin GM, give the business to the Japs (no disrespect to them intended)!! I think most of the reason they do this is because too many people that dont need a truck but want the look are buying them. Thats great except that they are changing what the MFGs perceive as "needed" designs in the truck market and leave people that really do want or need a bed of any significance out to dry or buying more truck than they need or want.

I'm really considering a possible trade . I know i'll get raped on the depreciation factor . I'm really in control cuz i could say yes or no we'll see. What i should have bought was the 2003 1500 HD that would have been a perfect truck . But the alore of the all new 1500 CC was just too much . I love my truck , but that darn bed is bothering me . I live in LA so adding 1 foot is a possibility ( WEST COAST CUSTOMS ) sure itll cost alot but losing out on a trade is more expensive . I found a 2003 1500 HD at dealer for 21,000.00 good price ? and its an LT trim and my same color that primer looking color !

The 6.0 mileage was to much to swallow.had a Hemi,did'nt need another truck that sucked fuel.

I am perfectly happy with my Chevy 2500, which was stated before that it is now called a 1500HD
