What does it take to add remote start to a 04 hd 6.0

Pretty much depends on what system you buy. You will have to splice into a bunch of wires under the dash, run a wire for a hood pin, and splice into a wire or two behind the instrument panel. I have done one on my 2004 6.0 and used an Astrostart 2205 which is a 2 way system that will actually tell you by led if the truck started or not. I also have it wired to turn my heated seats on from the remote

I just had remote start put on my 04 2500 HD. I love it. Watched as the guy put it in for me. There are a lot of wires to hook up (20+?). He had a couple on the steering column, a bunch under the dash and i think one behind the door panel. There were also about four relays to hook up. The good thing is he only charged me $150. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself if you have never done this type of work before. Hope this helps

I thought the seat heaters wouldn't actually 'heat' unless there was a certain amount of weight in the seat.

The Heated seats, anti theft and door lock/unlock can be controlled by the Aldl plug under your dash to the left. Pin # 2 wire is tapped for the functions. The nice thing about the Astrostart and the 2004 trucks is that you do not need any relays for the install. A couple of plug in modules and your done...
