No ABS on rear axle?

 I took my ’98 K1500 to the tire store for a rotate and balance, and the mechanic said that he couldn’t find the sensor wires for the ABS on the rear axle. He said the front looked fine. I discovered after I purchased my truck from a local dealership that it had been rear-ended, but I haven’t had any problem with it. In fact, I’ve been very happy with it and plan to keep it for a long time. I’m now worried that someone has replaced the rear-end with one from an older model truck. How can I be sure that I have the right rear-end? Are there safety issues with having ABS only on the front? Thanks.

Your truck and all others have a 3 channel system and the wire your mechanic (ha) was looking for is at the transmission. This system has been around for many years and works fine.

You should find a better mechanic. :D
