Mark Posted February 5, 2001 Posted February 5, 2001 Finally got my truck fired up this morning, would've had it yesterday but my die hard was dead. So I got a new Interstate this morn and vroom, just like that engine was born in my truck. Didn't even have to mess with the distributor to be able to drive to the mechanic for emmissions and fine tune. I was concerned about being at TDC after changing the cam but apparently we were pretty close. As a matter of fact when I went to back it out of the garage it chirped the tires with just enough gas to keep it running- no choke yet. Happy Day I'm tellin ya- Best Monday in years. See ya Mark
Frank S Posted February 5, 2001 Posted February 5, 2001 So how did it do on the inspection and emissions test?
Mark Posted February 6, 2001 Posted February 6, 2001 I won't find out about the emmissions till I get my truck back Wednesday. I had to just drop it off and go to work, I am having an electric choke put on it and the carb adjusted. Headers next month hopefully, I wanted a cat-back/header system from Flowmaster but I ordered a catalog from them 2 months ago and it never came so I guess they don't need my business. Need rear tires too, March is ofter our biggest snow month here. Of course the list is endless for my truck, will have to prioritize. I'm sure the emmissions is no problem since I put both smog pumps on and it only called for one- I didn't have the parts to tee off from only one pump. See ya Mark
TheScaryGuy Posted February 6, 2001 Author Posted February 6, 2001 Man I am glad we have no emission's checks. Heh heh, with no catty converter, pumps, and other goody's I would doubt I would pass! :)lol
Frank S Posted February 7, 2001 Posted February 7, 2001 Scary Believe it or not, your '90 may not have had a smog pump. My '93 1500 TBI didn't come with one.
Roofer Posted February 7, 2001 Posted February 7, 2001 The County next to mine used to have Smog testing, but they realized that it made no difference with our county right next door. They also realized it was alot of wasted money.
TheScaryGuy Posted February 7, 2001 Author Posted February 7, 2001 Really? Thats interesting, I thought they came standard.
Frank S Posted February 8, 2001 Posted February 8, 2001 Go pop your hood and look at the emissions sticker.I'd be willing to bet that it doesn't mention a pump.
JohnGMC Posted February 10, 2001 Posted February 10, 2001 99% of the 350 TBI's do not have AIR pumps,the 88-89 305's however do,that is strange.
Mark Posted February 10, 2001 Posted February 10, 2001 Got my truck back yesterday, and as far as my emmissions test I'm not sure they actually had it running as far as the numbers read. Very strange when my old engine just got by, anyways everythings great except for the exhaust leaks, passenger side only has two studs instead of three- makes an awful racket, need headers right after I get my front seat reupholstered. The old Hulk is getting as $$$ hungry as my X, but ya gotta love it. Mark
Mark Posted February 10, 2001 Posted February 10, 2001 Almost forgot- I spent my day putting a wing vent in the drivers door. It wasn't as bad as I thought, considering I drove it for many years without one. Dummy! Mark

tobias Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 wow there are some old threds on this site. That's so odd for a site that started years ago. Who'd have thunk?
