Considering PCMforLess Tune

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a '03 1500 Chevy z71 with the 5.3. 53k miles or so. The truck is my daily driver to/from work with lots of stop and go. I also occasionally take it on trips. No towing. All in all just your regular vehicle.

I am considering a PCMforLess tune for the extra git up and gas mileage. Im sure Ill play around with it some when I get it and i certainly have to get on it sometimes to dodge all the slow drivers on the morning commute. I want this truck to last a long time and I do the regular maintenance on it.

My question is, are there any other mods that I should do to ensure that everything keeps running like it should. What do they cost, how hard to install? I have read alot about shift kits in the high performance forum, but auto transmissions are just one of the many things that are beyond me. I certainly know I dont want to rip one out though. I just really dont want to mess anything important up by getting the tune. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

weletchw, I have a PCMforless tune and absolutely love it! As far as reliability and maintainence, if you continue to stick with oem schedules you should be just fine. IMO a tune may actually increase reliability. If your trans shifts quicker it will result in lower trans temps and slippage. Less heat = less wear. With or without a tune, if you abuse your truck you can expect problems down the road. Call Brian @ PCMforless he can advise you on further mods that will enhance your tune. :withstupid:

I'm with EastCoast HD, Brian @ PCMforLess will hook you up and answer all of your questions. With all of the mods that I have (cam, exhaust, cold air intake, etc.), I felt the biggest improvement from the PCMforLess tune...really brought it all together. I couldn't be happier with the results, and his customer service is second to none. :withstupid:
