sound system upgrade....

I just finished changing the entire sound system and I feel this is the way to go if you want excellent clarity as well as a little thump. Changed all the wires to monster wires( changing the wires is a crucial part that is often overlooked). Took me the entire saturday but it was well worth it. I also used the new Starmod 2 to keep the OnStar going, it was easy to install and works like factory new. Heres the list:

Pioneer Premier DEH-P930 CD Receiver

Pioneer Premeir CDX-1270 12 Disc Changer

Starmod 2 (OnStar interface)

Pioneer DEQ-9200 Digital Graphic EQ----I installed this in the slot where the stock tape player was, took a little modifying but looks great.

Kicker RS6 6 1/2 Components---front doors

Kicker RS5 5 1/4 Components---rear doors

McCintosh MC 420 Amp (4 channel)

Monster Cable Wires Everywhere

And will finish the interior with the 2002 Escalade Cluster Tommorow.

Hopefully I will have some pics up by the end of the week...

I have a question since I am new to the pickup truck game, Is there anyway of getting a power rear window like they have in the Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

Sounds nice.  Are you going to put in a sub at all???

Heres what is in mine already running the stock speakers:

Clarion 8275 head

Clarion DPH 9300 EQ/DSP

Clarion 12 disc changer

Adding an EQ to the GM stock system really makes a difference.

Heres what is waiting to go in:

-MBQuart 6.5, 5.5 and tweet in the front w/Quart Comp crossovers

-MBQuart 4.5 coaxials in the rear w/Quart Comp crossovers

-PPI PRO 10" Flat piston subwoofer

-And either (2) Blade SE100's and (1) SE1250... or (1) Rockford Punch 4080 and (1) Rockford Punch 100.

For those who don't know, the Blade amps are no longer available.  They are truly unique in that they are all monoblock design, even the multi channel amps, which I don't have.  Each Blade amp channel is powered by a separate power supply.  I love these things, they are small, deliver tons of power to any, and I mean any Ohm load (I have personally seen these amps drive a dead short on the output wires), they don't build much heat and they are super "clean" sounding.

As you can see some of my stuff is a little older, but I prefer it over the newer stuff.  Plus the wife won't let me spend any more $$$$ lol!

BTW:  I am a big believer in MBQuart and even have a Quart surrond sound in my house, they just have that "distictive" sound that no other manufacturer has.

Also, I disagree with you on the wires.  I don't think is is an absolute crucial thing for the majority of people.  The problem is that most people will never have a "clean" enough signal in their vehicles to notice a difference in the wiring.  Don't get me wrong, in a full blown competition system yes, in most of the guys trucks on this board (the everyday drivers) no.

for the power sliding rear window you can go to www.gmpartsdirect.com and in the accesories area they have a part number listed for it

congrats on the upgrade, I just recently put a cd player in my truck, makes a big difference.  Next I'm going to change out the speakers.

I just finished installing the sub in my Av this weekend...Got a IDQ 10" in a fiberglass enclosure I built to fit in my center console.  Had to cut the storage well in the console, but it was worth it...Best part is, other than the sound, is it's totally stealth.
