I need ALL of your help!!!!!

I need everyone to pray, wish, dream, perform magic, voodoo rituals, WHATEVER it is that you do to wish a good deed for me.

My wifes sister wants to buy our Impala and I need all the help in the world for them to get financed. I HATE that car and my wife is not too crazed about it either, but her sister loves the darn thing.

If she buys it, I will finally be rid of it and I can get my wife something better for her daily driver!

I am counting on my GM Brothers and Sisters in a time of great need and support! :seeya:

BTW, I was not kidding when I said this is serious, I hate that car that much!!!!

Thank you for your support! :chevy:

Has the car been problematic for you guys? If so, you must really not like her sister much. :seeya:

I'll sacrifice a live chicken, drink some rum, and get a hat for my bat...That will make Jobu happy, and he's pretty good at special financing deals.

One of my top ten favorite movie lines of all time:

"Up your butt, Jo-bu!"

I watch Wingnut's abridged version of that movie (the funniest moments in 22 minutes flat) at least once a month.

Yeah...I do that with a lot of movies.

This is what I would do if I was in your shoes. Let the wifey pick out which car she wants, and tell the dealer what you want to do, let them make a few hundred bucks on the impala sale and trade it to them with the understanding that your sisterin law will pay the dealer x amount for it. Then you will save a lot on taxes because you will only be paying on the difference and the dealer will be able to get her financed a lot easier than she could do it on her own. This is not uncommon practice, and any respectable dealer will do this. You help them out by letting have a few hundred and they help you out by using their resources to get her financed. Also, losing a couple hundred is nothing compared to the thousands in tax savings. It just means you have to light a fire under the wifes ass to pick out a vehicle......I could make a recommendation it you wish! What kind of vehicle does she want?

First, thanks for the help.

Second, THAT is an Impala that I would love to have.

Third, this car has not been a "problem child" so to speak, it has been fine. I was never crazed about the car in the first place, but it is her daily driver, so she picked it out. Since new,the ride and drive quality has gone from good to aweful. The interior "cheapness" is driving me nuts, I am not comfortable in the seats and I don't enjoy driving it. My wife is to the point that "it is transportation". She enjoys driving too and for your daily driver to be like that is not enough for us.

It does have a proven drive train and it does get great milage and all in all, not a bad looking car, it is just not on my favorites list, nor hers.

In short, I guess we are both very disappointed with our 33k mile car vs. the brand new one we paid for.

Fourth, she is considering the Acura RL3.5 pretty hard. We will be looking for an 02-04 model of whatever we get. Other than the milage aspect, I would like to see her get a Tahoe, but with her drive, milage plays into the equasion pretty hard. We might look at a BMW 5 series or possibley a Cadillac Deville. I think they are sharp. On the Acura note, a friend of ours has an RL with 130k miles on it and it rides and drives 100 times better than our Impala does and for the miles on it, I am very impressed with the quality and durability. Personally, I wouldn't mind her getting an 01-02 Z-28. You can get a 30k mile car for under $20k and the "fun factor" would definately escalate!

Thanks for the help and keep it up. I will start knitting a hat for the bat from Jobu!! :seeya:

You could have here look at the GTPs. They can be found used for pretty cheap. Good ride. Nice performance and with a 25 mpg city 33 mpg highway. Plus they seat five. :seeya: I have one and love it.

The RL is definitely a nice ride, very reliable and long lasting, but a snoozer. Get a TL type S if you want an Acura. You can pick up an 04 Deville with a sunroof, nav, comfort and conveniece, and chrome wheels for less than 28 grand. The market is flooded with em. A 5 series is a d**n near perfect all around vehicle, but their residuals are stout. I would stay far away from a Z28, nothing but a motor. A blast to drive in a straight line. If you want something along those lines pick up a second hand GTO for cheap, as much fun as a Z28 but much more refined and comfortable. My pick of the litter for the type of vehicle you want would be an 2003 VW Passat with the 8 cylinder. d**n fine cars, much nicer than anything listed above and can be had for a bargain. Anyhow, enjoy the looking.

HiHo, your Acura thinking is like mine, and I think the new TL is one of the best looking/driving cars on the road, but she wants the larger car. I am 6'2" and she is 6'0" and the larger car is more comfortable.

Never looked at the VW before, I will have to check it out. I agree about the price of the 5 series. She puts on 20-25k miles per year, so "bang for the buck" is important too. We will probly trade every 3-4 years, so getting a good car at a great price is the name of the game.

She told me today, "I am not driving a 2 door car unless it is a Vette." Looks like a 4 door buggy to me then!! :seeya: I am not buying a Vette for a daily driver! Out goes the Z-28 and I did like the GTO idea, but it too is short a couple doors.

She is pretty well set on the RL, but I will still check up on the VW. Just need to get the Impala sold! :chevy:

Looking at a VW product? You are unhappy with the quality of your GM vehicle? VW's are mechanical A-HOLES. Much worse than what the General puts out. The quality and reliablility of VW's are suspect. For the money you are better off buying Japanese or American. My buddy had a Jetta and it was a POS the day he drove it off the lot. BTW, my buddy has a 96 Chevy Van that has nearly 300k on the clock and he drives it everyday. He also has a newer 3 series convertable, beautiful car but is exteremely expensive to maintain. His biggest complaint about his BMW is that it has way too many leaks. Look at the JD Power ratings, BMW has been slipping the last couple of years. Nothing major, just annoying little drips that don't appear on typical Japanese/American cars. After seeing all the trouble my buddy had with is VW and the way VW treated him I would rather drive a Pinto around.

I'm not a union guy, but try to buy American. Keep your dollars here and support your fellow citizens.

I have friends who have had bad experiences with the VWs and BMWs. Both are very nice, but seem to have their problems(mostly the BMWs). IMO, the Beemers have too much electronic stuff that tends to break. I'd look at the Passat and a newer Deville. The Acura is probably the safe buy, but I like American stuff. That's just my opinion. Good luck in whatever you get, I don't think you'll make a mistake with your choices.
