Hey guys, when traversing anything that flexes the suspension a bit when going slow, like less than 5 mph, I can hear a little tap/rattle noise that sounds like it is coming from the middle of my door where the two doors meet. I have lubed the heck out of the weather strips with silicon spray and it does not really change. I have adjusted the strikers in and out. It isnt a bad noise, very slight and I only hear it if the fan is on low and the radio is off. I do have step bars. I would not worry about it but I only hear it on the drivers side (I have never ridden on the other side though). Does anyone have any thoughts of what it could be or if yours does it. It doesnt do it driving at speed or over bumps....only when going really slow like in a parking lot. Could it be something under the floor like the brake/fuel lines? Any suggestions? I have tried everything incluging the dealer several times (they have tried adjusting the back doors with no luck. It is really minor, just wish i knew what it was....

I hear that same noise on occasion. I don't have step bars, so I don't think that is your prob. It definitely sounds like it is coming from the flexing of the cab/doors, but I haven't isolated the source yet either.

Guys - this noise is coming from your weather strips. You can lube up the crap out of them on the side facing you. The trick is to lube up the other side - the side touching the cab. I am talking about the rubber piece that runs along the windshield and the top of the cab. Pull it off (it is easy to put back on) and SOAK both sides with a silicone lubricant.

This works. Trust me.

Hiho, this is really the only noise I hear from my truck, you are right, usually going slow and it is not real loud, try going over a speed bump at an angle slowly, you will hear it then too, I also cannot hear it when the radio or something else is turned on...I have noticed it for a while...lubing will help as seadoons says. If you put pressure on the joint between the doors (the plastic pillar at the top) it will help and that is probably where the noise is coming from (go over the same bump but put your hand on that peice by the headliner and push on it)...does it still make the sound? Does yours sound like a little click or rub noise, kind of like two plastic pieces rubbing against each other...? I think it is just the stripping rubbing when the body flexes and/or where the doors meet, CC do not have this I would guess because they have a pillar in the middle, but maybe they hear it too....it really does not bother me either, let me know, later, :seeya::):seeya:

It isn't coming from the weatherstrip--at least on mine. I have pulled off all the pieces and lubed both sides yearly. I've even pulled/lubed the little vent window on the back doors. It sounds almost like the bottom latch for the rear door.

i've heard of lift kits making noise where the body is bolted on, but not sure it it could be the same here. i have a 99+ ext cab and have never had this noise.

Mine is not the weatherstrip, makes the same noise whether the strip is on of off. Actually it is worse when it is off. I took off the strikers one at a time and drove around to isolate the problem. It is definitely the top striker, and I think it is because the latch moves too much side to side. I made an appt tomorrow morning so I will just tell them what I have done and where it is coming from and let them do the rest. Mine sounds the worst when going over a sharp speed bump at a slow speed when both rear wheels contact the bump at the same time (negating the body flex). I will let you guys know what happens.

I have an ext cab and do not have that niose at all. About the only noise I have is a broken clip behind the drivers seat inside the plastic. The body shop has never been able to fix it for me and they did not want to replace all of the plastic.

Oh yeah, definitely have that noise. Blasted the weatherstrip with silicone. Probably won't have to re-lube it for years now. No effect though, still got the noise. My solution is to crank the volume on the radio. It only bothers me in the late fall and winter when I don't ride around with the windows down. As soon as the windows are down the rush of air down the highway makes the noise disappear.

Seriously though, if there is a real cure for this I'd love to try it. As long as I don't have to re-align my doors or something.

I adjusted the strikers all the way in on mine and the noises stopped.

It was a squeeking, anoying as hell noise. Once i got the rear doors SUPER tight it dosent do it anymore.

The noise only seems to affect the 4 door ext cabs. My '99 never had that noise. The OBS trucks definitely didn't have this problems.

Before I lubed my weather strip, mine was making the squeak-squeak noise from the weatherstrip rubbing too. That was gone once I lubed it. The source of that noise was from the weatherstripping rubbing the plastic rear door panels. I only get the occasional rattle/clunk now if hit a bump that flexes the vehicle.

Well I think they fixed mine. They did something with the latch and striker and the lock and the door.........at least that is what the invoice said. What they really did I dont know, I will look at it, but it has not made a noise. I am pretty satisfied.
